We are a public university committed to providing quality higher academic and professional education in business and other social-science-related disciplines. We are a world-class higher education provider, nationally entrenched, regionally relevant and globally recognized.

University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is an acclaimed public university and one of the region’s leaders in combining academic studies with professional certification. It is the only university mandated to offer both academic and professional programs in Ghana. Founded in 1965 as a private business-education institution, the university was built on and is guided by the core values of integrity, respect and service. These values are instilled in students through core classes in quantitative methods, communication skills, business communication, critical thinking and French, as well as a required internship. UPSA offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs alongside professional courses and online learning options. It is also fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs in the United States. Students enrolled in any degree program have the opportunity to register for a corresponding professional program at no extra cost, which makes it possible to graduate with both a university degree and a professional certificate, such as CPA certification.

The university ranked in the top three in Ghana in the 2020 Global Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings, which assesses institutions’ commitment and action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. UPSA was highly rated in the areas of research, outreach and stewardship. As part of its community service mandate, the university organizes activities such as an annual leadership lecture featuring national and international leaders and a community academic project providing free summer classes for high school students. To commemorate its fifty-fifth anniversary, the university has planned a business development project for fifty-five SMEs within the UPSA area. In working with the broader community in this way, UPSA is demonstrating its definition of professionalism: the application of knowledge for development in an ethical way.
