We are a premier business school focused on developing world-class human resources and capabilities to meet national development needs and global challenges through quality teaching, learning, research and knowledge dissemination.

Established as the College of Administration in January 1960, the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) assumed its current name in 2004, when it was departmentalized to establish six academic focuses: Accounting; Finance; Operations and Management Information Systems; Organisation and Human Resource Management; Public Administration and Health Services Management; and Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Each of the departments is focused on training graduates to meet national development needs through top-tier education.

The school offers programs focused on developing students who aspire to be business leaders, training them to fill vital jobs as well as launch businesses of their own. “UGBS offers its students the unique experience of being taught by faculty and staff who are committed to carrying out research that is relevant for policy, covering a variety of areas,” says George Acheampong, lecturer at the school and coordinator at the UGBS Incubation and Innovation Hub. “UGBS produces high-achieving and successful individuals in every sphere of management endeavor and has links and strategic partnerships with the business community.”

The university’s Executive MBA has six focus options, including an entrepreneurial management track that equips students with the skills needed to successfully launch and scale ventures. The rigorous two-year program has a theoretical basis but also nurtures soft skills and encourages teamwork to prepare its graduates for the world of business.  Classes are held in the evening to better accommodate working students. UGBS is looking for applicants who hold a good degree from a recognized university and have at least two years of relevant work experience.
