Startup Gravataí is a public policy program aimed at consolidating the Municipality of Gravataí’s innovation ecosystem as a global hub for startups and scaleups. The program, directed by the municipality’s Innovation Department, accelerates startups focused on the modernization of public administration processes or on strategic areas of economic development, with an emphasis on nanotechnology, industry 4.0, AI, ecommerce, fintech, edtech, agritech, the automotive industry and logistics. Its mission is to foster local entrepreneurship, promote economic and social sustainability, and connect local businesses with global innovation ecosystems.

Participants benefit from mentoring, networking and shared office spaces. The program evaluates applicants based on innovation, viability and the project team’s competence and experience. “In less than two years since the inception of the Innovation Department at the Municipality of Gravataí, we have completed four cycles of acceleration and supported a total of fifty startups, ten of which are already in incubation,” says Selma Fraga, secretary of innovation and technology.

Any startup willing to develop solutions that help solve local problems (defined by the municipality) in education, safety, health, mobility, citizenship, socio-environmental impact, inclusion of diversity and accessibility, among others.
