PFR Ventures
Sector: Multiple
PFR Ventures, the largest fund investor in the CEE region, strives to support both innovative small and medium Polish enterprises at any stage of their development via venture capital funds, and mature companies via private equity funds.
Within its portfolio, it currently has more than fifty available funds, which have made a total of four hundred investments to date. As a fund of fund managers, PFR Ventures, together with private investors, angel investors and corporations, invests in venture capital and private equity funds. This means that while it does not invest directly in companies, interested entrepreneurs can research and find funds within the PFR Ventures portfolio that will meet their needs. Entrepreneurs can select between private equity, venture capital, business angels and corporate venture capital funds. While the investment size varies between funds, they range between less than 1 million zł ($262,000) and more than 25 million zł ($6.5 million). Entrepreneurs can also apply filters including “fund status” and “industries” to aid in their search for the appropriate fund. The sectors currently being supported include, but are not limited to, artificial intelligence, agritech, 3D printing, healthcare, software, pharmaceuticals, travel and quantum computing. Once the appropriate fund is found, entrepreneurs can use the PFR Ventures website to directly contact the chosen fund. Among the most notable startups supported by PFR Ventures are Booksy, a booking application for beauty businesses; and iTaxi, a free mobile application that allows its users to order cabs through its application. With the CEE region becoming Europe’s fastest emerging startup ecosystem and Poland being the region’s largest economy, there is no better time than the present for innovative startups to receive the support they need.
